The Brunswick County Solid Waste & Recycling Division hosts an annual document shredding event each spring. The event is free of charge and open to all Brunswick County residents and property owners. Participants must show proof of Brunswick County property ownership or residency.

During the annual Public Shred Event, individuals can dispose of up to 5 boxes or bags of documents per resident/property owner. Items must be boxed or bagged and ready to be shredded before arrival. Brunswick County staff will be on-site during the event to empty items into the shredder. All boxes and bags will be returned after they are emptied.
The 2026 Public Shred Event is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. (or until truck is full). For questions about upcoming Public Shred Events, email Brunswick County Operation Services or call 910.253.2520.
