Sampling
DISCLAIMER:
BCPU staff will never request to enter your home for sampling. Homes that are eligible for standard monitoring samples will be contacted by the County and sampling kits will be delivered to your home. We will not charge for testing, nor are we affiliated with any in-home water filtration installation services.
Standard Monitoring
In accordance with EPA's Lead and Copper Rule Improvements, BCPU will be sampling a subset of customer's homes matching EPA-preferred sampling criteria. During our 2026 sampling period, we will reach out to customers who may fit the following criteria:
- Single-family homes with copper pipes with lead solder constructed between 1983-1988
- Multi-family homes (apartments and condos) with copper pipes with lead solder constructed between 1983-1988
- Single- or multi-family homes with copper pipes constructed before 1983
Request for Monitoring
BCPU is happy to provide water service line verification and lead and copper tap sampling kits upon request. Contact Brunswick County Public Utilities or fill out a sampling request form.
School and Child Care Sampling
Beginning in 2025, Brunswick County Public Utilities will be reaching out to all schools and childcare facilities that are serviced by the utility. The schools and child care facilities within Brunswick County that are serviced by another utility will fall under their sampling schedule.
We will be mailing information on the sampling program directly to the schools and child care facilities. All samples are analyzed by an independent lab and the results will be delivered to the school within 30 days upon their receipt.
