- Brunswick County Government Resumes Normal Operations Friday, Aug. 9: All Brunswick County Government offices, libraries, parks, and other facilities will reopen on their regular schedules Friday, Aug. 9. The Brunswick County Emergency Operations Center will return to Level 3 (Enhanced Monitoring) status effective 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8. Brunswick County remains under a state of emergency as the County continues to monitor and assess the storm’s impacts.
- Brunswick County Courthouse Open Friday, Aug. 9: The Brunswick County Courthouse is open Friday, Aug. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Brunswick County Landfill: The Brunswick County Landfill will close at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 and will reopen Friday, Aug. 9 unless additional closures become necessary.
- Trash & Recycling Cart Collections: At this time, all curbside trash and recycling carts will be picked up on their regular collection schedule, including those for Thursday customers. GFL Environmental is monitoring the storm and will provide updates should any changes to the collection schedule become necessary. Those with questions about their cart collections should contact GFL Environmental at 910.253.4177.
- Parks & Recreation: All park activities are canceled through Sunday, Aug. 11. All Brunswick County park locations will be closed Thursday, Aug. 8 and will reopen Friday, Aug. 9 unless additional closures become necessary.
- Postponement of Health & Wellness Fair: The Brunswick County Health and Wellness Fair originally scheduled for Aug. 9, 2024, has been rescheduled out of an abundance of caution due to forecasted inclement weather from Tropical Storm Debby. The fair will now be held on Friday, Sept. 6.

Road Closures
- During Debby (and all major weather events), you can search DriveNC.gov for active road incidents related to the storm. Before you hit the road in the morning, check your commute route to save you time and keep you safe.
Brunswick County and the National Weather Service in Wilmington are monitoring Tropical Storm Debby.
Areas of flash flooding will continue as water pools into low-lying areas and additional heavy rainfall occurs. This is a dangerous situation; do not drive through flooded areas. Seek higher ground if flooding threatens your area.

- Areas of flash flooding will continue today as water pools into low-lying areas and supported by additional heavy rainfall. Do not attempt to drive across flooded areas as your vehicle may become swept off the roadway.
- Tropical Storm force gusts will continue today, especially east of a Lumberton, NC to Andrews, SC line and the adjacent Atlantic waters.
- Isolated tornadoes are possible for southeast NC, especially this morning, with the threat shifting away from the area during the afternoon.
- Minor coastal flooding is possible, especially with high tide late this morning. Coastal flooding along the lower Cape Fear River (including downtown Wilmington) will continue with the next several high tides.
